A wanted 61-year-old drug kingpin and Lagos socialite, Aishat Elediye, popularly called “Iya Ruka” in the drug world and “Alhaja Elediye” in the social circle, whose true identity has shrouded in mystery for years has finally been arrested.
Penpushing reports that the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) said its operatives arrested the suspect on January 1, 2025 in her mansion in the Okota area of Lagos following the interception of a truckload of illicit drug consignment from her staff.
The agency’s Director, Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, confirmed this in a statement on Sunday explaining that Iya Ruka has remained on the wanted list of the agency for leading one of the drug cartels operating in the Mushin area of Lagos.
Penpushing further reports that Babafemi said the lid was, however, blown off her invincibility when operatives acting on intelligence intercepted a truck carrying 44 jumbo sacks containing 1,540 kilograms of imported hemp.
The statement added that the truck was driven by a 41-year-old Abideen Adio, who happened to be the suspected drug warlord staff, explaining that the operatives stormed the suspect’s hideout to effect her arrest
