The Presidential Candidate of Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi has expressed optimism that he would be the next Commander-in Chief of Nigeria, on his election as President of Nigeria in the forthcoming 2023 general elections.
Penpushing reports that, Obi expressed optimism and confidence of being elected by Nigerians while featuring on Monday as guest of Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE) platform held in Lagos, adding that he is the most competent among other candidates vying for the position.
The former of Anambra State Governor , said he was  working hard to become victorious at the poll, stressing that he became governor through grace and that grace has not left him, with assurance that, he is ordained to start ruling the country from next year
” I will be Commander-in Chief next year. I am competent to rule the country. I became Governor through  grace and I cannot abuse  grace. I want to assure Nigerians, I am going to tell Nigerians good story”, Obi emphasized.
Penpushing further reports that, he said  next year’s  election should not be seen as based on  religion, ethnicity, adding that it is the confused people who see it from those  perspective, saying that he is contesting as a Nigerian, stressing that his mission is to move the country forward, and turn it to productive nation.
“Next year’s election should not be about tribe, it is not about religion. I have not seen where price of bread for Muslim, is different for  that of Christian. It is the confused people that create wrong impression. I am a Nigerian and I am contesting as a Nigerian. I always want to learn, I always want to be corrected”, Obi emphasized.
Penpushing also reports that, he denied speculation that, he is been funded to run the race, rather he is funding it himself, and quickly added that, that does not mean if he sees support he would ignore such, adding that he never offered  anybody one naira to step down for him for the presidential race.
” I never offered anybody one naira to step down for me. I will not do so to become president, that does not mean, I am not spending on campaign. Let me tell you in clear term, I can tell you as at today, nobody is funding Peter Obi, am funding myself, but if I see any person who want to fund, I will take”, he stated.
Penpushing reports that, Obi, said vying for presidential seat and other political officers was  like looking for a job, stressing that in view of this, there is need for electorate to scrutinize all of them, adding that the electorate are the employers, who loyalty must be given after offering such appointments
“What we are looking for is job, when you are employed, you must be accountable to your employer. Therefore, all of us contesting must be examined and scrutinized”, Obi declared
