The Oyo State Government has disclosed that about 400,000 residents of the State will benefit from the second quarter of Governor Seyi Makinde’s Omititun Free Health Mission.
Penpushing reports that the wife of the Governor, Engr(Mrs) Tamunominini Makinde made this known this on Friday in Oyo town during the flag off of the “Omititun for Life Free Health Mission” in collaboration with the Oyo State government.
The first lady said, the free medical mission is a quarterly activities designed to support the well being of people in the state so that people can have access to basic health care across the state.
Penpushing further reports that the Makinde explained that the second quarter of the free health mission was targeted to reach out to additional 400,000 people across the 33 local government area of the state, adding that this will make people benefit from primary medical treatments like malaria, hepatitis B, Human Immune Virus (HIV), and hypertension among others.
“We are also looking at sponsoring surgical treatment of ailments such as glaucoma, dental care and optical services which include cataract surgery, and other eye ailment as well as giving out glasses to the program beneficiaries.”
“We shall be offering free breast cancer screenings which is in line to renewed our commitment towards health of women in the state, breast cancer is one of the deadliest cancer affecting women in Nigeria’.
‘Omititun for life foundation in collaboration with the Ministry of health is here to ensure free breast screening to reduce breast cancer in women, there will be free treatment for women diagnosed with breast cancer and removal of the tumor.”
Penpushing also reports that the Commissioner for Heath ,Dr. Bashir Bello in his welcome address described the program as another milestone of the present administration in the state, saying that Governor Makinde has been a pillar and motivator for free healthcare delivery in the state.
The Commissioner however urged people in the state to take advantage of the free health initiative, calling on them to played their role towards the success of the program across the state.
Meanwhile,dignitaries at the event include: the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Inclusion, Alhaja Faosat Saani, Commissioner for Special Duty, Hon. Olufunmilayo Orisadeyi, Executive Secretary, Oyo State Primary Health Care Board, Dr. Gbola Adetunji, and Special Adviser to Governor Makinde on Diaspora Matters, Mrs Bolanle Sarumi among others.
