A 29-year-old man has allegedly killed his mother in Batriko, Eastern Boki Local Government Area of Cross River State for ritual purposes, having shaved his dead mother and packed up the hair before dumping the corpse in a well.
Penpushing reports that the Cross River State Police Command Public Relations Officer Irene Ugbo, confirmed the incident as well as the arrest of the suspect, but, did not give details as at the time of filing this report
The police spokesperson, a superintendent of police, disclosed that the incident occurred on December 25, 2024, while a source said the suspect was arrested on Friday alongside a herbalist by a combined police and security team from the Obudu council area.
‘The suspect allegedly shaved his dead mother and packed up the hair before dumping the corpse in a well in Obudu Local Government Area, while security operatives had been tracking him since the incident occurred’, the source emphasised.
Penpushing further reports that the source added that the suspect was arrested with the native doctor in a shrine with a bag containing his late mother’s shaved hair, adding that the duo have been whisked by the police to Obudu Divisional Police Headquarters
