A final year student of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, (LAUTECH) Ogbomosho, Pelumi Oyundoyin who was diagnosed with cancer in 2018 needs N10 million to be flown abroad (Indian) for medical treatment.
Penpushing reports that the 27year old patient has been on sick bed since 2018 after she was diagnosed with cancer of spinal cord at Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital (OAUTH), Ile-Ife, Osun State.
The mother of the patient, Mrs Grace Oyundoyin while receiving the team of Lifesupport Network at her residence who came to visit her ailing daughter and source for funds to cater for her medical bill noted that they were able to raised just a liitle bit of N2 million out of the whole amount.
Penpushing further reports that, she called on well meaning Nigerians to come to her aid and saved the life of her daughter by donating to bank account with following details: Oyundoyin Grace Acct no: 0500627052 Bank: Guarantee Trust Bank opened for her foreign medical trip to Indian.
“The problem started when she was about to get to 500 level, she complained about chest and back pain, the pains affected one of her legs before it later spread to all parts of her body, we thought it was an ulcer, but the pain got to a stage where she couldn’t work nor do anything again”, the mother said
“She was referred to a private hospital in Oshogbo, when there was no solution, we were asked to take her to Obafemi Awolowo Teaching Hospital in Ile-Ife, it was there we discovered that the ailment was cancer, and we were later refereed to University College Hospital (UCH) Ibadan’.
“Result of test carried out on her at OAUTH was forwarded to Indian, and they have signified that the ailment can be cured if we can source for N5 million for her medical bill, but we couldn’t raised the money, so we resolved in using drugs as alternative, yet, no changes’.
“My husband is a farmer, and i am also a local government worker, our family and relative ignored us when the problem started, we have spent over N5 million on the sickness, I struggled a lot while raising her and her siblings up”, the woman explained
Penpushing also reports that, the 56 year old mother of the patient noted that her daughter’s medical bill was said to have be N5 million as at 2018 but the money has now jumped to N10 million because the tumor has now spread across her body.
The Chief Executive Officer of Lifesupport Network, Ifeoluwa Albert in her remarks noted that the purpose of the visit was to checked the well being of the patient, support her and preach hope for her parent, adding that her Non Governmental Organisation(NGO) has been making efforts to reach out to donors and volunteers so as to assist the patient to get medical attention abroad.
Penpushing reports that, she lamented over attitude of some Nigerians toward the donation, saying this has been a major challenges of raising funds for the patient because some people believes its a scam despite all evidence made available.
