The  Federal High Court sitting in Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital on Tuesday nullified all primaries conducted by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and equally ordered fresh primary within the next  two weeks.
Penpushing reports that, Justice O. Oguntoyinbo gave  the judgment following suit brought before the court in regards controversy surrounding primaries conducted by various factions of the party in build up to the 2023 general elections.
The party has been enmeshed in controversy over who is to be Governorship candidate of the party among Hon Ladi Adebutu, Jimi Lawal and Segun Showunmi, as well as other political offices, all of them said to have been at loggerheads on who controls the party.
Penpushing further reports that, following the judgment, Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) Chairman in the State, Hon Sikirulai Ogundele when contacted said he was in London and yet to be brief about the development, adding that he would need to get across to other officials before he could make any reaction.
The  Publicity Secretary of the party, Asiwaju Akinloye Bankole in his reaction confirmed the development, adding that it was a temporary distraction for the party, but emphasised that the party will have to study the judgment, to know next line of action.
“Of course, we have heard of judgment of the Federal High Court sitting in Abeokuta ordering a fresh conduct of party primaries. It is a temporary distraction for us”, Bankole affirmed.
Penpushing also reports that, he appealed to party members, leaders and members of the public to remain calm, as the party will take time to study the judgment, to know way forward
” However, we appeal to all our party members and leaders, and especially members of the public to remain cool and calm, while the party studies the certified true copy of judgment to determine our next line of action”, he said
Penpushing reports that,it is on record that,  different factions had emerged in the Ogun State Chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) before the primaries including  Jimi lawal, Segun Seriki, Segun Sowunmi and Ladi Adebutu all laying claims to being the authentic party in the state.
