136 abducted Niger state pupils regain freedom after 86 days in captivity

The kidnapped 136 pupils of Salihu Tanko Islamiyya School, Tegina in Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State, have regained freedom on Thursday night after spending 86 days in captivity.

Penpushing reports that, the bandits released them to Birnin Gwari local government area  of Kaduna State  which  shares boundary with Rafi local government area of Niger State where the children were abducted on May 30.

The Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Birnin Gwari, Danladi Idon-Duniya, was said to be among people who received the freed innocent pupils, while as at the time of filing this report, the children are being conveyed from Birnin Gwari to Minna, Niger State capital where they will be reunited with their families on Friday.

Penpushing further reports that, a resident, Kasimu Barangana, who earlier delivered some part of the ransom to the bandits in the forest, was among the people who received the freed pupils at Doka village in Birnin Gwari local government area.

The anxious parents and residents of Tegina community were reported to have thronged the highway as at the time of filing this report  to witness the return home of the children, just as source said, the bandits collected  over N60 million and five new motorcycles as ransom before the children could regain freedom

Penpushing also reports that, as at the time of filing this report, the Niger State Government was yet to make or release official statement on the development, but Penpushing assures teeming readers of providing update as event unfolds
