The traditional ruler of Orile-Imo in Obafemi-Owode local government area of Ogun State, Oba Oluwambe Sogaolu has rolled out drums to celebrate his second coronation anniversary on throne.
Penpushing reports that the two-day activities held at the town situated along Abeokuta-Interchange axis of dual carriage Kobape-Sagamu expressway kicked started with chieftaincy installations of notable indigenes of the community.
The colourful event held between Friday July 24 and 25, 2026 attracted dignitaries within and outside Nigeria, which include traditional rulers, clubs, societies, Chinese representatives, and well-wishers among other stakeholders as well as residents of the town who trooped out in large number to join the monarch to celebrate
Penpushing further reports that newly sworn chiefs include: Chief Adebukola Dosunmu (Yeye Asiwaju Orile Imoland), Chief Olusegun Popoola (Otun Bajiki of Orile Imoland), Chief (Dr) Temitope Alade (Yeyemeso of Orile Imoland) and Chief Saubana Bamgboye (Lukotun of Orile Imoland)
The other programme of the ceremony was the foundation laying of number of projects by the royal father, embarked upon for the benefits of the town, as well as his entire subjects and other residents
Penpushing also reports that a thanksgiving church service was equally held on Saturday, July 25, 2026 at St Paul’s Anglican Church, Orile Imo, conducted by Rt Rev Emmanuel Adekunle (Bishop of Egba Diocese)
The order of service includes processional hymn, praise and worship, call to worship, Lessons and sermon, followed with a thanksgiving by the monarch accompanied by his Olori and chiefs, joined by other guests.
Penpushing reports that the train of the ceremony later moved to the magnificent palace for reception to wine and dime, while at the venue sumptuous menu and drinks were provided for the guests.
The renowned Fuji music maestro, Sefiu Adekunle popularly called, ‘Baba Oko’ was on band stand entertaining the guests, who could not hide their joy and joined the monarch to exhibit their dancing skills, while cultural display was also part of the ceremony
Penpushing further reports that the Olu of Imo, it will be recalled ascended the throne following approval by the Egba Traditional Council and presented with the staff of office by the Ogun State Government in July 2024.
The royal father in relating to the traditional rites, received his traditional paraphernalia of office from the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, at Ake Palace in Abeokuta, and pledged to preserve local tradition and elevate Orile Imo into one of the most developed towns in Egbaland.
