The widow of ace broadcaster and legendary investigative journalist Kola Olawuyi , Mrs. Abimbola Olawuyi has been reported dead, nineteen years after demise of her husband.
Penpushing reports that the death of the woman was indicated in a statement of condolence issued by the Chairman, Ogun State Chapter of the Freelance and Independent Broadcasters’ Association of Nigeria (FIBAN), Chief Olalekan Shoyinka lamenting the loss
The Chairman popularly called Ayinla Egba in the statement said the association received the news of the death with deep sadness, stressing that it was a painful loss to members of the broadcasting association
‘The leadership and entire members of the Freelance and Independent Broadcasters’ Association of Nigeria (FIBAN), Ogun State Chapter, received with deep sadness the news of the passing of Mrs. Abimbola Olawuyi, beloved widow of the late legendary investigative broadcaster, Kolawole Olawuyi’, he wrote.
‘Her death is not only a painful loss to the Olawuyi family but also to most members of our association, that has continued to cherish the remarkable legacy of her late husband’, Shoyinka added.
‘While the contributions of the late Kolawole Olawuyi to investigative broadcasting remain evergreen, Mrs. Olawuyi equally deserves recognition for the extraordinary courage, resilience and unwavering commitment she demonstrated in preserving his legacy after his passing in 2007’, he stated
‘For nearly two decades, she carried the enormous responsibility of raising their children as a single mother with dignity, strength and uncommon determination. Her quiet sacrifices and steadfast devotion to her family remain an inspiring example of love, responsibility and perseverance’, the message added.
‘As broadcasters, we understand that behind every successful media icon are individuals whose support often goes unnoticed. Mrs. Olawuyi exemplified such selfless devotion, standing firmly behind her husband’s enduring legacy while ensuring that the values he represented continued to live on through their family’.
‘On behalf of the entire FIBAN family in Ogun State, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the Olawuyi family, friends, professional associates and the entire broadcasting fraternity over this painful loss’, Shoyinka emphasized .
