The authorities of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta, have expelled 365 students for gaining admission into the Institution using falsified academic documents, and this development followed a comprehensive verification exercise conducted on the credentials submitted by students during the admission and registration processes.
Penpushing reports that Head, Public Relations and Protocol of the institution, Yemi Ajibola made this known in a statement, adding that all the affected students, enrolled in various Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes.
The statement stated that they were found to have presented fake National Diploma (ND) results and forged academic transcripts from different Institutions to facilitate their admission into the polytechnic.
Penpushing further reports that Ajibola emphasized that this decision underscores the Institution’s commitment to sanitizing the academic system and reinforcing its zero-tolerance policy against fraudulent practices and other forms of academic misconduct.
The statement added that distribution of the expelled students across the Schools is as follows: School of Communication and Information Technology – 156, School of Engineering – 36, School of Business and Management Studies – 117, School of Science and Technology – 54 and School of Environmental Studies – 2
Penpushing also reports that the statement said in view of this development, the Rector, Arc. (Dr.) ‘Koye Jolaoso, has cautioned prospective applicants and admission seekers against the use of fake academic credentials to gain admission into the Institution.
The rector stressed that the decisive action reflects the Polytechnic’s commitment to upholding academic integrity, promoting excellence, and repositioning the 47-year-old Institution as a model of transparency, credibility, and professionalism in tertiary education.
