The remains of Deaconess Rachael Coker, mother-in-law of prominent member of Penpushing platform and former Deputy Governor Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Pastor Tunde Lemo were committed to mother earth on Friday May, 29, 2026 in Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital in a befitting manner.
Penpushing reports that the final journey of Mama started on Thursday, May 28, 2026, with a wake keep service held at Henry Townsend Hall, St Peter’s Cathedral, Ake, Abeokuta, which attracted attendance of number of dignitaries across the country.
The burial activities continued on Friday, May 29, 2026 with a church service held at Christ Anglican Church Iporo Ake Abeokuta, where family members, friends, church associates and well-wishers gathered to celebrate the life and legacy of the deceased who passed on at the age of 94, and widely described as prayerful, loving and devoted to God.
Penpushing further reports that this was followed with interment, and thereafter, train of the burial activities moved to Legacy Hall, Abeokuta Sports Club, Government Reservation Area (GRA), Ibara, Abeokuta for reception.
The guests at the reception were treated to number of menu and drinks, with the famous musician popularly called Taiye Elesemeta on band stand to entertain them, and notable personalities at the event include traditional rulers, Otunba Segun Showunmi, three Oloris of Osile Oke-Ona, Eddy Ademosu, Oluremi Olugbenro (General Manager Paramount F.M Radio Station and Prince Dimeji Kayode-Adedeji (Founder Penpushing Media) among others
Penpushing also reports that, son-in-law of the deceased, Mr. Tunde Lemo, in an interview with journalists described the late Deaconess as “an angel in human form” whose life was filled with love, care and dedication to God and family.
‘I couldn’t have had a better mother-in-law. In my tribute, I said she was not my mother-in-law but my mother-in-love because she showered love on me. She was a very good mother who took care of us and our children”, Lemo stated
Penpushing reports that he added that the deceased was passionate about Christian living and constantly encouraged people to embrace Christ, emphasizing that she would forever be remembered
“She always preached that if you come to this world without Jesus, then you have wasted your life. We will continue to remember her for her love for Christ, her love for the work of God and her hard work. She was a workaholic who cared deeply for the family,” he said.
Penpushing further reports that Lemo expressed gratitude to God for the fulfilled life his mother-in-law lived, pointing out that reaching the age of 94 was a rare privilege, emphasizing that the family will miss her greatly, however, thanked God she finished strong and is resting in the bosom of the Lord
The first child of the family, Mr. Olutoye Coker, in his remarks while speaking with journalists described his late mother as a prayer warrior and a pillar of spiritual support to the family.
“My mom was a mother in Israel. She stood in the gap for us through prayers and fought our battles spiritually. We are going to miss her greatly, but we trust that God will continue to be with us despite her absence,” he said.
Penpushing also reports that the late Deaconess was remembered for her unwavering faith, dedication to family values and commitment to Christian service throughout her lifetime, who the guests at the event described as a virtuous woman whose legacy of love, kindness and devotion to God would continue to inspire generations.
