A former Governor of Cross River State, Donald Duke, has emerged as presidential flagbearer for People’s Redemption Party (PRP), ahead of the 2027 general elections having scored the highest votes at the primary election.
Penpushing reports that National Chairman of the party, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, announced results of the poll a at the national secretariat of the party in Abuja, explaining that Duke secured the presidential ticket after scoring 6,499 votes said to be the highest number of votes in the primary election.
The chairman added that in same vein, his closest rival, Kingsley Yakubu, who mounted a nationwide campaign focused on youth inclusion and economic reform, scored 2,699 votes, while Nnaoke Ufere, an academic and policy expert, got third place with 784 votes.
Penpushing further reports that Baba-Ahmed while declaring the official results, said the exercise was free, credible, and devoid of bias, however, declared that any contestant who felt aggrieved with the electoral process should seek redress before the party’s appeal committee.
