The Chairman of Abeokuta North Local Government Lanre Oyegbola-Sodipo has declared support for second term of President Bola Tinubu, with assurance of securing one million votes for him in Ogun State at the 2027 polls.
Penpushing reports that Oyegbola-Sodipo who is the Ogun State Coordinator of the Tinubu Support Organisation (TSO), made the declaration on Saturday during a meeting held with the support group coordinators from the 20 local government areas of the state held in Akomoje, Abeokuta.
The council boss in the same vein threw weight behind Senator Solomon Olamilekan, the consensus governorship aspirant of All Peoples Congress (APC) in Ogun State, as well as Governor Dapo Abiodun who is also consensus aspirant for the Ogun East Senatorial District
Penpushing further reports that Oyegbola-Sodipo, explained that the meeting was convened to brief coordinators and encourage them to intensify efforts towards securing victory for Tinubu, Adeola and Abiodun in the forthcoming elections.
The group coordinator emphasized that Tinubu’s economic reforms had begun to position the country for growth and recovery, adding that he deserved re-election, boasting that re-election victory at the poll is intact
“The re-election bid of our President Bola Tinubu is already 50 per cent achieved due to his governance record. , The same applies to Senator Solomon Adeola, who has been positioned as the party’s governorship candidate based on his track record’, he stated.
Penpushing also reports that he pointed out concern voter apathy in the state, explaining that the group, with over 50,000 registered members, had put plans in place to boost grassroots mobilisation and increase votes from about 400,000 recorded in 2023 to at least one million in 2027.
“However, we face voter apathy. In the 2023 presidential election, we recorded about 400,000 votes, representing roughly 11 per cent of registered voters. This must change in 2027, and that is why we are targeting at least one million votes,” he said.
Penpushing reports that Oyegbola-Sodipo stressed that the target could be achieved through mobilisation across the 236 wards in the state, with a minimum of 2,000 votes expected from each ward.
“We must remain united and committed, moving from neighbourhood to neighbourhood and house to house to mobilise support for the APC. We must ensure we obtain our voter cards and use them to return the party to power in 2027,” he added.
