I welcome all guests including dignitaries and stakeholders to the first annual lecture in memory of Comrade Tunde Oladunjoye, who died a year ago in a London hospital following a brief ailment and buried in his hometown, Ijebu-Itele, Ogun State.

I want to also appreciate the initiator of this programme, Barrister Solomon Bankole, as well as other committee members including myself, Olori Toyin Banjo, Comrade Sunday Nwaobi, Otunba Taofeek Lawal and Comrade Olumide Igbodipe.

No doubt the death of Tunde, a renowned and proactive journalist, politician and human rights activist was a bitter pill to swallow, having left at age of 58. However, we cannot query God who knows best.

The deceased came, saw and conquered, and it is on record that he played his part before death took him, away, and his legacy remain reference point in all ramifications. I will also use this occasion to console the family and all those left behind.

Let me explained that the decision to organize this programme was reached by some friends who took it upon themselves and as individuals contributed to make it happen, with support of some personalities which include Ogun State Head of Service, Mr Kehinde Onasanya and Alhaji Tiwalade Akingbade, popularly called ‘Paulo Rossi’, who is Assistant National Secretary of Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN).

I want to profusely appreciate all donors for the gestures and all those who took time to join us in honouring our friend, brother and associate. God will continue to bless you abundantly with good health and long life

Tunde Oladunjoye is gone, but he remains in our heart, and we shall continue to honour him in death, and this has been designed as annual event, as we pray for his soul to continue to rest in perfect peace

For today’s event, we have packaged a lecture titled, ‘The Pen, The Truth and The Burden of Responsibility: The Legacy of Ethical Journalism’, to be delivered by former Deputy Speaker Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Remmy Hazzan, a bosom friend of the deceased.

The programme will also provide opportunities for some selected guests to discuss on life and time of the deceased, in view of their personal relationship with him.

Once again, I want to appreciate you all for being part of the memorial programme, and I wish you safe journey to your various destinations. Thanks

Dimeji Kayode-Adedeji, Founder Penpushing Media, is Chairman Planning Committee of 1st anniversary lecture in memory of Comrade Tunde Oladunjoye organized by Committee of Friends
