Ogun State numbering over 500 have formally endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office, citing his administration’s women-focused policies and inclusive governance approach, as their conviction to support him

Penpushing reports that the women in same vein, threw their weight unanimously behind the Senatorial aspiration of Governor Dapo Abiodun, describing him as an experienced representative.

The endorsement took place during the 2026 International Women’s Day (IWD) celebration, organized by the Ogun Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, at the Royal Pavilion, Ijebu-Ode.

Penpushing further reports that the women emphasized that the performances of the duo of Tinubu and Abiodun would attract more developmental gains for the sustained development of the country and Ogun East Senatorial District

The women which include political office holders drawn from across the twenty local government areas of the state led by Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, declared the unflinching support for the re-election.

Penpushing also reports that Salako-Oyedele speaking at the ceremony described Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda as impactful and inclusive, particularly for women, adding that in similar vein, policies of Governor Abiodun have added values to women.

“Policies of President Tinubu and Governor Dapo Abiodun led administrations at the Federal and State levels have significantly benefited women, with the records of measurable gains in social inclusion, economic participation, and access to opportunities. We are very proud of them and we pledge our unflinching support for them as they move on to the next level’, she stated.

Penpushing reports that Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Motunrayo Adijat Adeleye, while corroborating political solidarity for the political aspirations of Tinubu and Abiodun, said the massive turnout of women reflected growing unity, resilience, and influence in public life.

The Commissioner pointed out that the 2026 International Women Day (IWD) celebration coincided with activities marking the 50th anniversary of the creation of Ogun State, describing the milestone as a reminder of women’s consistent contributions to the state’s growth over the past five decades.

‘Women have remained central to Ogun’s development through family stability, commerce, community building, and increasing participation in governance and the private sector”, she emphasized

Penpushing further reports that Adeleye, a former member Ogun State House of Assembly attributed the achievements being celebrated to deliberate leadership and inclusive policies at both federal and state levels.

The Commissioner commended Tinubu for reforms aimed at economic recovery and inclusive growth, as well as Ogun State Governor for sustaining women-focused initiatives under the ISEYA development agenda.

Penpushing also reports that acknowledging the contributions of the wife of the President, Oluremi Tinubu, through the Renewed Hope Initiative, alongside the Ajose Foundation of the first lady of Ogun State, Bamidele Abiodun, which she noted has strengthened women empowerment interventions in the state.

The Commissioner urged women to translate their population strength into effective political participation, stressing that sustained progress depends on active engagement in the electoral process.

“The responsibility for a greater future rest not only on our shoulders but on our Permanent Voters’ Cards. Women must remain united and support leaders who recognise their value and contribution to governance,” she said.

Penpushing reports that Adeleye equally announced the empowerment of 50 women with 200,000 cash grants and 500 women for N50, 000 cash grant respectively.

The Guest Speaker, Senator Abiodun Olujimi, speaking on the theme: “Give to Gain”, described the theme as timely and issued a clarion call for Nigeria to dismantle systemic barriers keeping women at the periphery of power.

Penpushing further reports that she pointed out that the current two per cent female participation in politics represents a national crisis that needed to be addressed by all and sundry.

The former Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, stressed that International Women’s Day is not just a celebration but a moment for deep reflection on the structural reforms required to secure the future of the Nigerian girl-child

Penpushing also reports that Olujimi argued that existing social and legal frameworks kept failing Nigerian women, likening the collective strength of women to a circle unbreakable and undefeated.

The guest lecturer urged women to identify, support, and stand by credible leaders, referencing the inclusive governance style of Tinubu and Abiodun, while emphasising the need for women to support one another politically and socially.
