The Ogun State Governorship aspirant under the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections, Senator Iyabo Obasanjo has assured that former President Olusegun Obasanjo will vote for the ruling party.

Penpushing reports that she gave the assurance while speaking with journalists on Monday at national headquarters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja, Federal Capital Territory (APC)

The former Commissioner for Health in Ogun State, explained that Obasanjo will be doing that for the ruling party in support of her governorship ambition in Ogun State ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Penpushing further reports that she debunked speculations that her decision to seek the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket was influenced by the former President, who is her father

The governorship hopeful explained that her aspiration was driven by personal conviction and sustained calls from supporters across the state, adding that her return to active politics followed years of appeals from residents of Ogun State and political associates, many of whom are now members of the ruling party.

“My father is just another Nigerian who will vote for me. He has not presented any platform for me, nor has he influenced my decision in any way. I have not been in active politics for many years’, Obasanjo stated

‘I am back because the people of Ogun State asked for my return. Most of those I have worked with and had positive experiences with are now in APC, and that informed my choice’, she stated.

Penpushing also reports that she expressed optimism in securing the party’s nomination and governing the state effectively, citing the goodwill she earned from her previous service in the Senate and as Commissioner for Health.

The first female governorship aspirant to announced her ambition stated that if given the opportunity, she will bring her experience to bear in repositioning Ogun State and strengthening the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Penpushing reports that Obasnjo, on gender inclusion, pointed out that Nigeria has never produced an elected female governor, stressing that the time had come to give women greater opportunities in leadership.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant emphasized that she believes it is very possible for a woman to become governor in Nigeria, and she hope it becomes the norm in the country.

Penpushing further reports that the first daughter of the former President addressed zoning concerns, particularly calls for the governorship to rotate to Ogun West, assuring that she would support any acceptable and popular candidate capable of winning across all zones of the state.

The aspirant accompanied by top All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders from Ogun State, pledged to anchor her campaign on development, industrial growth, education, science, and technology.

Penpushing also reports that Obasanjo pledged working to make the All Progressives Congress (APC) victorious in the state in 2027, in line with the broader reform agenda of President Bola Tinubu.
