Patroness of Nigeria Union of Journalists calls for peaceful election in Ogun state council

The Patroness of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Ogun State Council Chief (Mrs) Florence Mojisola Oni, has called on members to maintain peace and order during and after the union’s elections scheduled for Thursday, December 11, 2025 at the State Secretariat, Iwe Iroyin, Abeokuta

Penpushing reports that the business mogul known as Ibuso Aje of Egbaland, made the call in a message to the council’s executive, and reminded journalists and candidates that, as the society’s watchdogs, they must uphold the highest professional standards.

“It is imperative that, as journalists, you are expected to adhere strictly to the standards expected of you, and that this election does not fall short of those standards’, she emphasised.

Penpushing further reports that Oni pointed out that Ogun State’s reputation as a pathfinder in the journalism profession and, therefore, urged members of the noble profession to raise the bar positively.

The patroness equally appealed for fair play, urging all stakeholders to act in accordance with the constitution of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) and to accept the election results in good faith.

“Ogun state remains a pathfinder in journalism, and we must continue to set a high standard Elections will come and go, but the union remains. Let us embrace the outcome with peace’, she stated.

Penpushing also reports that Oni in the statement wished members of the union well as they head to the polls to elect a new set of executives who will lead its affairs for the next three years.

Meanwhile, the election, to be held at the Iwe-Iroyin Press Centre, Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta will determine the leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Ogun State Council for the upcoming term.
