The commercial flights from Ekiti state Agro allied International Airport located in Ado is set for take from December 10, 2025 following completion of the project, while the facility is to promote growth in terms of commerce, tourism and boost government agricultural programmes.

Penpushing reports that the airport sharing land mass between Igbemo, Ijan Ekiti and Ado Ekiti was started in 2019 under the administration of Dr. Kayode Fayemi and completed by incumbent Governor Biodun Oyebanji.

The Ekiti state government in ensuring maximum benefits of the airport and its other projects has upgraded the Ikogosi Warm Springs Resort with 45 more rooms under construction to meet the immediate needs of tourists.

Penpushing further reports that Oyebanji, who sees himself as the chief marketer of the resort said he had engaged in promoting its patronage by the state government and other visitors to the state.

The Governor explained that currently, the facility which is a major tourism point houses the meeting point of the warm and cold water, and to leverage on another natural resource of the state, which is education, the state government has secured a free trade zone for the establishment of Ekiti Knowledge Zone.

Penpushing also reports that the aim is to use its enormous wealth of human knowledge to tackle poverty by turning education into an economic tool, while the Ikogosi Warm Springs Resort is refreshing.

The government to achieve this has located the Ekiti knowledge zone at the centre of its four institutions of higher learning, and in the area of agriculture, Oyebanji gave his government a pass mark in terms of security.

Penpushing reports that Oyebanji said thirteen farm settlements with more than 5,800 participants were currently in operation in different parts of the state, and gave examples as include Ado Ekiti has 5,000 hectares, Omuo-4,000 hectares, Oke Ako-6,000 hectares, Ikere-4,000 hectares of farmland with various produce such as maize, cassava, yam, beans, pepper and tomatoes cultivated.

The Governor speaking on how his government wooed youth to embrace the agricultural scheme said he initially toured the state to meet traditional rulers and various youth groups on the long-term benefit of their buy in.

Penpushing further reports that he disclosed that under the agriculture programme, the government helps participants to clear the land free of charge, give them seedlings and farm implements.

The schemes are provided with security guards and the participants enjoy periodic stipends to maintain the farm equipment, while this is in addition to government buying half of their produce off them and selling directly to the people to checkmate attempts to overprice them in selling to the citizens.

Penpushing also reports that Oyebanji, an indigene of Ikogosi, has been involved in the political governance of Ekiti state serving in various capacities before his election as the Chief Executive officer of Ekiti state, the land of honour.

The Governor, who is soon to face an election in his bid for a renewal of his mandate, has served under two previous governors and says he is the first indigenous governor having had his primary, secondary and tertiary education in Ekiti state
