Isara-Remo town bubbles as indigenes troop out to celebrate 56th Afotamodi Festival

The ancient town of Isara in Remo North local government area of Ogun State on Saturday recorded another cultural and traditional feats, as the indigenes trooped out in their hundreds to celebrate the popular Afotamodi Festival.

Penpushing reports that the grandfinale of the 56th edition was held within the playing ground of Isara Secondary School, which had in attendance dignitaries from all walks of live as well the indigenes in diaspora who participated as they glued on the live coverage of the events through social media.

The Planning Committee Chairman, Prince Adebisi Osindehinde in his welcome speech explained that the event was aimed to celebrate the town shared history, achievements and unbreakable spirit as one great family under God.

Penpushing further reports that he added that it is important in the community’s journey, and reminded the indigenes that Odemo throne is a symbol of heritage that belongs to the entire Isara community.

‘We must stand together as one, as the strength of Isara lies in our togetherness. I therefore appeal to the Otete ruling house where I also belong, and indeed to all Isara indigenes, to maintain peace, patience and brotherly love among ourselves’, he stated

‘Let us speak peace, act peace and live in peace because where peace reigns, progress follows. We remain one family united by destiny and love. Our town is peaceful, welcoming, and full of opportunities for growth’

Penpushing also reports that Osindehinde equally called for continued financial support from all sons and daughters, as well as friends towards ongoing and upcoming community development.

‘My beloved people, the time has come for us to turn our love for Isara into visible development. I want to passionately encourage our indigenes in the diaspora to come home, visit often and even bring your friends, partners and associates to invest in Isara’

‘As we rejoice at this year’s Afotamodi festival, let us do so with one heart, one vision, and one purpose to make Isara greater than ever before. Let us sow the seeds of peace, unity and development that future generations will reap with gratitude’, he emphasised

Penpushing also reports that Chairman of Remo North local government, Hon Olumuyiwa Sodade in his speech said having participated in the festival as youth, he was deeply grateful to now take part as the chairman of the council.

The council boss pointed out that Isara-Remo remains a loving, peaceful and hospitable community, which he is immensely proud to call home, adding that Afotamodi day is not only colourful, but also a powerful expression of the cultural identity, ancestral values and communal pride

‘It brings together our people from all walks of life, strengthens relationship, and promotions unity and development. I sincerely appreciate all illustrious sons and daughters of Isara both home and abroad, for their steadfast contributions to our town’s progress and to the success of this year’s celebration ‘, Sodade stated

Penpushing reports that the latest edition of the festival featured new additions such as sports and a beauty pageant, while number of various associations in the town who were cladded in traditional outlook were in high spirit as the festival lasted
