The Remo Growth and Development Foundation (RemoGDF) has officially announced the commencement of activities for Remo Day 2025, a week-long celebration of the rich cultural heritage, unity, and identity of the Remo people.

Penpushing reports that the Chairman of the Planning Committee and First Vice Chairman of RemoGDF, Prince Wole Sowole highlighted programme of activities at a press conference held at the foundation’s secretariat along Iperu–Ilisan Road, Iperu Remo.

The chairman disclosed that this year’s celebration will take place from December 23 to 27, 2025, with the theme “One People, Diverse Cultures, One Identity, explaining that the theme reflects the unity in diversity that defines Remoland.

Penpushing further reports that Sowole emphasized that despite the cultural and linguistic differences across Remo communities, the people remain bound by a common heritage and shared purpose.

‘This theme speaks directly to the spirit of who we are a people beautifully diverse in our traditions, languages, and expressions, yet firmly united by one shared identity and purpose,” Sowole said.

‘Remo Day 2025 is not just a festival; it is a homecoming that unites sons and daughters of Remoland from all corners of the world to celebrate our achievements and renew our commitment to growth and development’, he added.

Penpushing also reports that Sowole stated that the celebration will feature a series of cultural, artistic, and social activities, including the Remo Beauty Pageant, a Dance Drama, and a Grand Rally that will bring together all sons and daughters of Remoland in a colorful display of pride and unity.

The chairman disclosed that the major events will take place at the Pavilion in Sagamu Palace Grounds, a facility donated by Governor Dapo Abiodun, while the cultural display featuring traditional performances such as the Igunuko rites will begin at 10 a.m. on December 23, followed by the drama performance later in the evening.

‘There is no Remo Day without a cultural display. It’s a time to showcase the depth of our tradition, celebrate our diversity, and highlight the people who have made Remoland their home including the Hausa, Igbo, and other communities that live and work among us.”

‘The dance drama, scripted by RBC and directed by Puneet Bantefa and Jadesola, will portray the historical journey of the Remo people, including their early encounters and migration stories, in an artistic and educational form’, he stated.

‘The Beauty Pageant will take place on December 26 at the Ereke City Centre, bringing together contestants from across Iperu, Sagamu, and other Remo communities in a contest celebrating intelligence, elegance, and tradition’.

Penpushing reports that the Governing Council Chairman of RemoGDF, Otunba Seni Adetu, in his remarks reiterated that Remo Day is one of the signature initiatives of the foundation established under the visionary leadership of Oba (Dr.) Babatunde Adewale Ajayi, Torungbuwa II, the Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remoland.

“The Remo Growth and Development Foundation was set up by our Kabiyesi as a structured platform to complement government efforts in improving the socio-economic development of Remoland,” Adetu explained.

‘Remo Day is one of our flagship programmes designed to foster unity, promote culture, and strengthen the bond between our people at home and in the diaspora’, the governing council chairman stated.

Penpushing further reports that Adetu appreciated the media for their continuous partnership, urging them to help amplify the message of Remo unity and progress.

“We count on our media partners to showcase the color, pride, and promise of Remoland to Nigeria and the world. Through your platforms, we can highlight our milestones, promote our values, and invite more people to join us in building a prosperous Remo nation’, he added

‘As preparations intensify, the RemoGDF leadership extended an open invitation to all sons and daughters of Remoland, both at home and abroad, to participate actively in the forthcoming celebrations and make Remo Day 2025 another unforgettable chapter in the Remo story’
