The Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu on Monday received the Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, at the State House, Abuja, a meeting which was the first known encounter between the President and Fubara since his reinstatement last Thursday after the six-month state of emergency in Rivers State.

Penpushing reports that sources said Fubara was spotted at about 7:00 pm entering the President’s office complex, but details of the meeting was unknown as at the time of filing this report

The Rivers State Governor speaking with journalists after meeting said he received advice on how to go about his work as a governor, while he told him (Tinubu) he had resumed his responsibility as Governor

“You’re aware that suspension was lifted midnight 17th, and I came in on the 19th. Ideally, it’s proper for me to see Mr. President and to tell him that I’m back, and I’ve also resumed my responsibility as the governor of the Rivers State. He advised me on what to do and how to go in their lives’ Fubara said.

Penpushing further reports that he pointed out that Wike, the President are working together, noting that as far as he was concerned, he had made peace, stressing that Tinubu, who he referred to as his father and his principal (Wike) are working together.

“It’s not much. It’s father-son discussion, telling him thank you and the areas where, if at all, there should be any issue for him to guide me properly so that we are not in any situation of crisis. That’s all.”

Penpushing also reports that it would be recalled that Fubara returned to government house on Friday after expiration of his six months suspension from office following political crisis between him and his predecessor Nyemson Wike.

The Governor who was almost consumed by the crisis was on Wednesday ordered by President Bola Tinubu to return to office, alongside his Deputy and members of the House of Assembly

Penpushing reports that speaking shortly on arrival to the Government House, Port Harcourt, the State capital he assured the people of the state that his government will continue to work in their best interest.

The Governor expressed his gratitude to the people and residents of the State for the warm reception he received earlier at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa in Ilwerre Local Government Area of the state.

“I know everyone wants to hear something from me. In fact, you expected it when I landed at the Airport. Let me first of all appreciate the wonderful people of Rivers State. I’m really humbled by what I saw at the Airport. I was briefed on some photographs of what happened here yesterday. That reception really humbled me’, he said

Penpushing further reports that Fubara while appreciating the large turnout of residents who came out to welcome and celebrate his return, described the reception as a display of love, confidence, and solidarity.

The Governor pointed out that the massive reception was not just a celebration, but a reaffirmation of the bond between his government and the people.

“It showed love, confidence and solidarity. I want to say that it is not just the celebration, the massive reception by the number of people who came out to celebrate, but the display and reaffirmation of the bond between this government and the people that we are serving’, he stated

“I want to assure you that we will by the grace of God, continue to do those things that has made you people love us. I want to appreciate everyone and to say that we love you but God love you more’, Fubara added
