A prominent South African opposition leader and founder of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), Julius Malema has declared that the transformation and development of the continent lies within and not from other nations.

Penpushing reports that Malema made this known on Sunday as a keynote speaker during the opening ceremony of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) Annual General Conference, held in Enugu.

The Pan-Africanist emphasized that Africans should reject the illusion that African salvation will come from Washington, London, Brussels, or Beijing, stressing that Africans salvation lies with them

“We must reject the illusion that our salvation will come from Washington, London, Brussels, or Beijing. Our salvation lies here, in Lagos and Johannesburg, in Abuja and Pretoria, in the hands of Africans who refuse to be divided’, he emphasised

Penpushing further reports that the outspoken opposition leader spoke on the theme, ‘Stand out, stand tall’, at the conference which brought together legal practitioners, policymakers, judges, academics, and international guests, convened to reflect on law, democracy, governance, and nation-building.

The keynote speaker is the leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) – one of the major opposition political parties in South Africa and a feisty critic of the South African government led by President Ramaphosa.

Penpushing  also reports that he has been known for his outspoken views and controversial chants, including the decades-old anti-apartheid song “Kill the Boer, Kill the Farmer.”, a song has been a contention, with some parties representing white South Africans attempting to ban it.

The advocate vowed to continue using controversial chants despite criticism from President Donald Trump of United States of America (USA), and in May, during a White House meeting with President Cyril Ramaphosa, Trump showed a video featuring Malema’s chants to support his claims of “white genocide” in South Africa.

Penpushing  reports that Trump demanded from his South-African counterpart why Malema had not been arrested for the controversial chants, but in response Malema declared that he, will never be intimidated by Donald Trump.

The outspoken opposition leader in South-Africa denied genocide in South Africa and maintained that the United States of America (USA) would not be allowed to dictate to South Africa, and has also called for the unification of African countries to match the economic strengths of the America and the European Union.

Penpushing further reports that Malema a former leader of the youth wing of the African National Congress (ANC) – South Africa’s ruling party since the end of apartheid in 1994 – was expelled from the party in 2012 and formed the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in 2013.
