The Nigerian Association of the Blind (NAB) Ogun State Chapter is currently facing political crisis following emergence of two factions, trying to outsmart each other in election to elect new officers, a process which has hit the rock.

Penpushing reports that the election scheduled to hold on Saturday at Fatimah Abubakar Recreation Centre for the People Living with Disability along Presidential Boulevard, Abeokuta turned out a stalemate.

The factions at loggerheads include Legacy Builder allegedly headed by Joseph Bulugbe, the outgoing Chairman of the association, said to be a suspended national treasurer, and The Achievers allegedly led by Michael Ebonhor immediate past chairman of the body.

Penpushing further reports that following the differences between the two factions, police operatives were deployed to the venue following intelligence report that the proposed election may end in chaos.

The delegates of Bulugbe led faction arrived the venue as earlier as 8.30am from all nine local government chapter to participate in election, having being earlier told by the electoral committee headed by Kenneth Eciche.

Penpushing also reports that as at the time of election to take place, the delegates faction led by Ebonhor failed to turn up for the poll, a development which caught the rival faction unaware, and became worried.

The electoral committee in similar development failed to turn up, having earlier told all delegates of the two factions that the election will hold, hence, the Legacy Builder group became suspicious and alleged the committee of playing script of the opposition.

Penpushing reports that as the melodrama ensued, the police operatives drove into the premises, to mount the entrance, which had been put under lock and key, an indication that the election will not hold.

The electoral committee has representatives from the two factions, comprising three members each, while the national body produced four members, making a total number of ten electoral committee members

Penpushing reports that when phone call was put across to the chairman of electoral committee to find out why the election was not holding as earlier announced, he did not respond to the calls.

The immediate past chairman of the association and alleged leader of The Achievers when also called for reactions, did not respond to explain why members of his alleged faction boycotted the election.

Penpushing further reports that the Secretary of the committee Olatubosun Olajide was reported to have resigned 24 hours before the election day, while as at 2.30pm, members of the Legacy Builder were making arrangements for return to their various destinations
