The Motorcycle Operators Union of Nigeria (MOUN) has confirmed Alhaji Rasaq Sotayo as the authentic National President of the union, and this followed
a memorandum of understanding signed by all parties involved.
Penpushing reports that National Provost of Motorcycle Operators Union of Nigeria (MOUN) Comrade Akintande Abiodun, made this known in a statement on Monday explaining that the confirmation was the outcome of a meeting held at the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Secretariat in Abuja, Federal Capital Territory(FCT)
The statement added that the meeting, which included Comrade Julius Bobi, who was also involved in the leadership tussle, resulted in an agreement that solidified Sotayo’s position as the authentic President of the union, stressing that a four-man panel committee, chaired by Comrade Sunday Oluwole, was set up by the labour union with representatives from the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment and Trade Union, to resolve the leadership tussle that had been ongoing for the past month.
Penpushing further reports that the statement explained that the committee’s efforts culminated in the signing of the memorandum of understanding, which also saw Bobi accepting the role of Deputy President of the union.
The National Provost of Motorcycle Operators Union of Nigeria (MOUN) said, as part of the agreement, all court cases against Sotayo’s leadership have been withdrawn, paving the way for a smooth transition and stability within the union.
“A four-man panel committee, chaired by Comrade Sunday Oluwole, was constituted by the NLC, with representatives from the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment and Trade Union, to resolve the dispute”, the statement stated.
