The Special Adviser on Trade and Export to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State, Shimite Bello has been reported dead on Easter Sunday after she was rushed to St. Luke’s Hospital, Asaba

Penpushing reports that Commissioner of Information, Charles Aniagu, confirmed that the governor’s aide died at the hospital adding that as at the time of this report circumstances of Bello’s death were unclear to him.

The death has continued to generate different version while speculations have it that the victim was killed by her husband, Pastor David Favour, when she protested against the husband’s alleged illicit affair.

Penpushing further reports that while residents claimed David beat up the victim upon her protest, others said the husband poisoned her, but the commissioner said he knew nothing about how she died, and asked journalists to speak to her family members.

The Delta State Police Command Public Relations Officer Bright Edafe, when contacted confirmed the controversies surrounding Bello’s death, explaining that the family of the deceased filed a complaint over the circumstances of her death.

Penpushing also reports that Edafe, a superintendent of police, said the family accused the husband of being responsible for the death of the governor’s aide, adding that the bereaved husband, however, reported the wife’s death to the police.

The police spokesperson added that the husband in same vein expressed concern that the family of the victim was threatening him, stating that the police thereafter dispatched a team to rescue him.

‘The police then dispatched a team to rescue him from the house and thereafter placed him in protective custody. We are currently investigating. In situations like this, only an autopsy can determine whether the death was natural or due to other causes’, Edafe said.
