The duo of Titilayo Akibu popularly called Efele and Tiwalade Akingbade famously known as Paolo Rossi have been re-elected as Chairman and Secretary respectively of Ogun State Chapter of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN).

Penpushing reports that the poll supervised by National President of the association, Musa Muhammed and other executive counci members was held under conducive atmosphere at the state secretariat of the body located in Obantoko area of Abeokuta, the State Capital, and with the elections the officials are to oversee affairs of the association for a second term of five years.

The National President of the association in his remarks encouraged the members on need to distinguish themselves as responsible ambassadors and live up to expectation in view aims and objectives of the the founding fathers of the globally known association

“One of our duties is to eliminate touting. I am sorry to say this: no single member of RTEAN is a tout. We are not touts, we are not hooligans. A woman selling pepper in the market, they will give her respect by calling herself a businesswoman. So, what about we who spent millions of naira to purchase vehicles and someone is calling me a tout?,” he said.

Penpushing further reports that Muhammed popularly called Maitakobi emphasized that Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) members are vehicle owners not drivers, hence, need to conduct themselves with dignity

“Let’s keep the name of RTEAN as kept by our founding fathers. Use that slogan of ‘maturity’ in all your activities so that people will know RTEAN with the good names that our founding fathers gave us”, he added

Penpushing also reports that Muhammed highlighted the association commitment to enhancing road safety through collaboration with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), explaining that the partnership would include establishment of a specialized driving training school in Ogun State.

The number one commercial vehicles owner in the country emphasized that the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) is committed to the partnership with the Federal Road Safety(FRSC)

Penpushing further reports that the re-elected scribe of the chapter during an interview with journalists applauded the Chairman, pointing out that his performance during the first term in office recorded positive impact for the association, which he said was contributing factors to the re-election.

The scribe underscored the importance of continuity in consolidating the gains made under Akibu’s leadership, citing improvements in park management and operational standards as key achievements, assuring that his second term will record more successes

“In his second term, our Chairman is committed to building on these successes recorded and taking the association to the next level,” Akingbade stated.
