A bread hawker going to Rumace village to sell the products on a motorcycle lost his life when his motorcycle stepped on an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by the terrorists in Niger State

Penpushing reports that in the same vein four other villagers were seriously injured when Boko Haram terrorists operating along the Bassa and Allawa axes of Shiroro Local Government Area of the state planted at least four explosives

The three of the incidents happened on Thursday, killing three siblings identified as Mali, Nehemiah and Jona said to be  en route to their farm from Bassa village when they stepped on an Improvised Explosive Device (IED).

Penpushing further reports that one of them, said to be a minor, lost his leg, whose leg was said to have been amputated, as well as all victims being treated at IBB Specialist Hospital in Minna, as at the time of filing this report

The incident was attested to by a miner who pleaded anonymity, adding that the bread seller was on a motorcycle and met the first set of victims, and in a bid to assist them his motorcycle steeped on an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) which claimed his life

“It happened around 7 a.m. A man hawking bread on a motorcycle lost his life in the incident. He was going to Rumace village to sell bread when he witnessed those three victims struggling in pain,” the miner explained.

“He went back to call rescuers, but on their way returning to the scene of the incident, his motorcycle stepped on another explosive, killing him instantly and injuring one of the rescuers he was carrying’, the miner added

Penpushing also reports that a youth leader in Bassa, Yusuf Shapa, disclosed that another explosive exploded around 4 p.m. on the same day, adding that the third incident occurred along Tudun Baturiya and Erena Road

Meanwhile, as at the time of filing this report the Niger State Commissioner for Homeland Security Major-General, Abdullahi Garba, (rtd) was yet to make any official statement in what the state is doing to curtail the spread of Boko Haram insurgents in the state.
