Federal University of Agriculture produces, induct 33 new veterinary doctors

The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, (FUNAAB) has produced 33 new products of the College of Veterinary Medicine who were equally inducted as Doctors of Veterinary Medicine with a charge on them to uphold ethical practice as they contribute towards boosting the health of animals, human beings and the environment.

Penpushing reports that the induction and oath taking ceremony with the theme “Veterinarians Leading Global Health: Navigating Emerging Challenges’ was held at the university campus located at Alabata community of Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital

The best graduating student among the newly inducted Veterinary Doctors, Adeoyo Kayode in his remarks expressed appreciation to God and the tutors, pointing out that his hard work and determination helped to surmount the daunting challenges encountered in the course of navigating the academic journey.

Penpushing further reports that the guest lecturer at the event Dr Yusuf Alasa, emphasized the need for adequate funding to enhance more research in veterinary medicine with a view to ensuring quality diagnosis and effective diseases surveillance against the scourge of pandemics, especially those transmitted by animals.

The accomplished Veterinary Medicine Practitioner and Entrepreneur in the same vein tasked the inductees to avoid the quest for quick wealth, rather regard their induction as a veritable opportunity to pursue their passion for greatness while leveraging on science and technology to assist in addressing the rising global challenges.

Penpushing also reports that the Registrar, Veterinary Council of Nigeria, Dr Oludotun Fadipe who coordinated the oath – taking ceremony encouraged the inductees to practice their profession with dignity and impact positively on the society through the protection of animal health for the advancement of public health.

The Vice Chancellor of the institution, Professor Olusola Kehinde in his remarks congratulated the Veterinary Doctors as young products of the University, highlighting the recent global rating of the Institution as a top ranked University dedicated to Excellence.

Penpushing reports that the Vice Chancellor represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Development, Professor Kolawole Adebayo assured that the Institution would not relent in developing innovative educational programmes and promoting the relevant mechanisms for the discovery and management of animal and human diseases for enhanced public health.

The Dean, College of Veterinary Medicine, Professor Lawrence Ajayi earlier in his speech had applauded the contributions of principal officers and other personnel of the College in nurturing the young Veterinary Doctors who had been empowered to make a difference in the management of animals’ patients and mankind against different and emerging diseases.

Penpushing also reports that the Chairman of the 16th Induction Planning Committee, Professor Adedayo Akande, in contributing displayed the need for effective collaborations and support for the young Veterinary Doctors to enable them to succeed in their future endeavours.

Meanwhile, the number of other speakers at the well-attended ceremony in the same vein described the inductees as key players in shaping a healthier society and creating a better world for all living things
