The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State has won all the chairmanship and councillorship seats in the Saturday, November 16,2024 election held across all 20 local government areas and 236 wards in the state.
Penpushing reports that Chairman of the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC) Babatunde Osibodu, made the announcement at the Commission’s headquarters in Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta.
The commission boss while presenting the official results of the polls in a live broadcast explained that a total of 613,156 votes were cast in the chairmanship elections across the 20 local government areas of the state.
Penpushing further reports that Osibodu in another statement said certificates of return will be presented to the elected chairmen, vice chairman and councillors on Sunday November 17, at the commission’s office by 2pm.
‘Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC) will today, Sunday, November 17,2024, present certificates of return to all elected chairmen, and vice chairmen into the 20 local government areas of the state, as well as 236 councillors-elect during the just concluded local government elections in the state’, the statement read.
‘Venue is the commission’s headquarters, Oke-Ilewo Abeokuta at 2pm prompt. The newly elected chairmen, their vice and councillors are to be seated 30 minutes before commencement of the ceremony’, Osibodu wrote
Penpushing also reports that the statement added that parties which participated in the election are 19, including Accord Party (AP), African Action Congress (AAC), African Democratic Congress (ADC), Action Democratic Party (ADP), All Progressives Congress (APC) and Allied People’s Movement (APM).
The others are All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Labour Party (LP), People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Social Democratic Party (SDP), Young Progressive Party (YPP), Action People’s Party (APP), Action Alliance (AA), Boot Party (BP), People’s Redemption Party (PRP), National Rescue Movement (NRM), and Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).
