A middled aged man suspected to be a political thug has been apprehended after being caught with an axe and knife at the Igan polling booth in Ikija, Ijebu-East local government area during the council poll in Ogun State on Saturday.
Penpushing reports that the suspect in a viral video was seen sitting on the floor accompanied with the dangerous weapons caught with him, and following his apprehension he was heard during interrogation that he was engaged by a politician.
The suspect emphasized while confessing that one Leke, whose identity was yet to be known offered him and other suspect said to be on the run as at the time of filing this report the political thuggery assignment.
Penpushing further reports that the apprehended suspect added that he and his gang got the assignment through their boss, who he did not disclose his identity to come and serve as security for Leke, said to be a politician
‘Leke brought us herein Ikija. I was caught with the axe and knife. My colleague is on the run. We are engaged to come and do security work. My boss called me on pone on request of Leke. I can’t establish if Leke is a candidate for the poll’, he stated
Penpushing also reports that as at the time of filing this report, it was not clear if the apprehended suspect was later handed over to the police for further interrogation, nor if the other suspect on the run was later apprehended.
