The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Ogun State Chapter on Thursday mourned Deaconess Doyin Ogunbiyi, a former Chairman of the Chapter and Commissioner in Ogun State who died at age 68 on November 11, 2024.

Penpushing reports that Chairperson of the Institute, Oluwaseun Boye in a tribute described the deceased as an extraordinary icon, a true trailblazer in public relations and a cherished mentor, as well as a pioneer and pillar of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR)

‘We mourn the loss of an extraordinary icon, Deaconess Doyin Ogunbiyi, a true trailblazer in Public Relations and a cherished mentor. Deaconess Ogunbiyi, a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), made history as the first female Chairman of the Ogun State Chapter of NIPR. Her visionary leadership and devotion to excellence have left an indelible mark on our profession’, the statement read.

Penpushing further reports that Boye said personally she was privileged to be mentored by Ogunbiyi during her (Boye) tenure as Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Ogun State Ministry of Information Chapel.

‘Personally, I was privileged to be mentored by her during my tenure as Chairman of the Ogun NUJ Information Chapel. Deaconess Ogunbiyi supported us unwaveringly throughout our Chapel activities, generously sponsoring initiatives like the Blogging for Profits training for journalists’, she said

‘I became a blogger since then along with countless other empowering programs. Her encouragement and guidance were a steady light, inspiring us to push the boundaries of our work, Boye emphasized in the statement.

‘Her legacy also extends into public service, where she served as a three-term Commissioner in Ogun State, demonstrating her dedication to her community and the progress of our state. Deaconess Ogunbiyi was a true embodiment of strength, service, and compassion’, she wrote.

‘We extend our deepest condolences to her family, friends, and colleagues. May her inspiring legacy continue to uplift us, and may her soul rest in eternal peace. Farewell to a beloved mentor and an exceptional leader’, the tribute read
