The Nigeria’s Super Eagles football squad have safely returned to the country after their harrowing experience in Libya, while it is recalled that they were subjected to facing inhumane conditions, having been stranded at a Libyan airport for several hours.
Penpushing reports that contingent have landed in Kano from Libya on Monday after boycotting their matchday 4 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against the Mediterranean Knights of Libya, due to callous treatment by Libyan authorities who abandoned them at a wrong airport for over 12 hours.
The member of the Nigeria delegation Tobi Adepoju, wrote on his X page, the Super Eagles are back in Nigeria, adding that they checked and stamped out our passports from Kano.

Penpushing further reports that the team safe return brings relief to Nigerian football fans and sets the stage for Confederation of African Football (CAF’s) investigation into the issue, while the players are expected to return to their individual clubs from Nigeria.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF), however, in a statement said it has referred the matter to Disciplinary Board for investigation and appropriate action will be taken against those who violated the federation statutes and regulations.
Penpushing also reports that the Libya’s Football Federation, however, denied complicity, attributing the incident to routine air traffic control protocols and logistical challenges.
