Commuters and transport operators have lamented over the increase in the fuel pump price adding that the development is seriously affecting sectors in the society ranging from transportation fare and economic.
Penpushing reports that in a random interview conducted pointed out that it is regrettable that no increase in price in the country has ever come down, rather it continues to fluctuate resulting in hardship for the citizens
The commuters and transport operators which include Moshood Bello separately shared their bitter experience, stressing that the way things are in the country now people may soon find it difficult to go out from their homes
‘About the situation of Nigeria on the new pump price, we all know that anytime the price of fuel increases, it affects so many things in Nigeria. We take transport everyday because it makes it easier for us to travel around and go to places we want conveniently’, Bello said
‘But with the current change in pump price, it will affect the society drastically and people will find it hard to even go out of their respective homes to wherever they want to go, either to work, schools, or any other places they want to go’, he added.
Penpushing further reports that Bello who was he was short of words, in the interview appealed to the authorities one need to be proactive in addressing the current plights and hardship the citizens are passing through
‘To be honest I don’t know what to say about that, but I’ll urge the government to be very fast about creating solutions to the current situation we are facing. Bringing down the fuel price is a solution I will suggest but I believe that by God’s grace things will get better in this country of ours, Amen’, he stated.
‘Personally, I have experienced difficulties considering I have to queue at a petrol station. I wait for over an hour before I am able to get fuel which has made me late to work certain number of times. It has heavily affected my business’.
‘I left my car at home because I cannot even bear the queue I will meet at the filling station. I have even seen terrible situations where you’ll see queues at a petrol station and the price is being sold at N1000 per litre. I heard today, I didn’t see it by myself but I’ve heard there are some places fuel is being sold for N1200. This is too expensive and most people won’t even be able to afford this new pump price’, he lamented.
Penpushing also reports Lawrence Adedotun, a transport operator in his own account regretted that the increase in fuel pump price came to him as a shock, adding in the same there has been scarcity of the products
‘Well, we just heard suddenly that there has been an increment in fuel price, even though it has been expensive before. We have since been buying between N900/N980 per litre in the last few days, but we are just managing ourselves. It was brought to our notice that fuel is being sold for N1,000 per litre in some stations’. Adedotun said
‘This has affected us transport operators in such a way that we can only pray to God to rescue us. Presently speaking, I can’t even say I want to buy fuel the way I’ve been buying it in the past, it won’t be convenient for me to do’, he stated.
‘Most people don’t even take their cars out anymore. Some just stay indoors and some people trek due to the new pump price. But some people who even board public transport find it hard to pay due to the economic situation in Nigeria. Even us transport operators, buying fuel at that price is a problem for us. We are just enduring it because you don’t have any other alternative’.
Penpushing reports that he equally appealed to the Nigerian government to reduce the fuel cost as a measure to bring relief, as well as the need to repair the refinery, to be able to serve good purposes for residents
‘I can only plead to the government to please reduce the price of fuel to allow the cost of transportation to be more eco-friendly than the way It Is presently. I can only advise the government to please repair and reconstruct the refinery, so it would be of great benefit to us, citizens of Nigeria’.
‘This will enable us to buy at fair amount because the way we import fuel isn’t helping at all. We have the crude oil so I’ll urge the government to please reconstruct our refinery because it will be more beneficial to us all and ensure proper distribution of fuel across the state.
