At least 20 residents of Bilbis community, in Zamfara State which including men, women and children were reportedly shot dead by terrorists who circled the community during an attack that lasted over two hours.

Penpushing reports that a resident affirmed that the terrorists who rode on motorcycles also injured seven residents who are now receiving medical attention, as at the time of filing this report residents, adding that the attackers did not attempt to kidnap anyone but shot indiscriminately

The resident who does not want his name in the print because of his safety said the terrorists blocked all entries and exits, stressing that some of those killed were scampering for safety when they were shot while others were shot in their homes.

‘They came fully prepared. They rode on their motorcycles and circled the community, blocking all entries and exits. They came fully prepared. Most of the women killed, were killed in their houses because when there is attack, sometimes only the men run to the bush. After killing some men, the terrorists also went into the houses and shot at others,” he said.

Penpushing also reports that another resident, Lawal Bilbis said the security situation in the area has deteriorated due to collective silence, emphasizing that if they are serious about voicing their plights the situation would have improved

‘We’re silent, our leaders are equally silent. If only we’re serious about voicing our plights, the situation would have improved. But it’s a group of terrorists now who are ruling us and we can’t do anything about it,” he said in Hausa Language.

Penpushing reports that as at the time of filing this report sources disclosed that the Islamic funeral prayer for the deceased was conducted on Friday, while Police Public Relations Officer Yazid Abubakar, was yet to make any official statement on the sad development.
