The rancour between the Association of Nigerian Theatre Practitioners (ANTP) and the Ogun State Ministry of Culture and Tourism over service charge of N20,000.00 requested from the association has been amicably resolved.
Penpushing reports that the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hon Sesan Fagbayi explained that the service charge was for the usage of a space at June 12 Cultural Centre for maintenance of the facility and not the official rent rate.
The Commissioner in a statement explained that the decision to end the dispute was reached during a meeting at the Conference Room, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, on Wednesday, March 20, 2024.
Penpushing further reports that Fagbayi explained that the discord occurred due to a breach in communication between the association and the ministry, adding that the ministry and the association are working towards the same goal of protection, preservation and promotion of culture in the state, which is one of the major goals of the present administration
‘Both the Ministry and the Association are working towards the same goal of protection, preservation and promotion of culture in the state, which is one of the major goals of the present administration’, the statement reads.
‘Hence, the need for peaceful coexistence between the Ministry and her stakeholders, cultural associations and organisations. Working together will fast track the realization of this goal”, the statement stated.
Penpushing also reports that in attendance at the meeting include, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Public Communications, Otunba Dare Odufowokan; Management of the Ministry, Governor of the Association, Mr. Bashiru Sanni and other representatives of Association of Nigerian Theatre Practitioners (ANTP)
