The Harvard College of Science, Business, and Management Studies, Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital an affiliate of Abia State University on Saturday formally matriculated its new students, at a ceremony held at the college campus

Penpushing reports that Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof Onyemachi Ogbulu in his speech congratulated the matriculating students on their admission and emphasized the significance of this stage in their academic journey.

The Vice Chancellor represented by the Director Institute for Continuing Education Abia State University Prof Joshua Ogbonna speaking at the matriculation ceremony attended by number of dignitaries urged the new students to uphold academic excellence and eschew cultism.

Penpushing further reports that Ogbulu emphasized need for the new intakes to approach their studies with dedication, cautioning that they should be mindful of the university’s uncompromising stance on academic standards and adherence to rules and regulations.

“I urge you to obey school rules and regulations as contravention to any of them will be met with stiff penalties, and in some cases expulsion from the institution. Abia State University, Institute for Continuing Education Students’ Handbook will be made available to all of you and it is compulsory, to guide you accordingly. I therefore implore you all to painstakingly go through the Handbook and be adequately acquainted with our laws and regulations’, he said

Penpushing also reports that Provost of Harvard College, Dr. Oyetunji Ismail Oyefemi, in his own remarks highlighted the college’s commitment to provide quality education, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and competent faculty.

The Provost stressed the importance of skill acquisition and underscored the institution’s zero tolerance for cultism, emphasizing the severe consequences for those involved in such activities, and equally warned them to desist from social vices.

Penpushing reports that, the President Harvard College Dr Oluwatosin Adebayo in his own speech reiterated the solemnity of the matriculation ceremony, likening it to signing a contract with the institution.

The College President, however, warned the new set of students of the institution against unseriousness, pointing out that students’ academic success required diligence and perseverance, as well as commitment

Penpushing further reports that Commissioner of Police Ogun State Command, Abiodun Alamutu in his remarks cautioned the students against the dangers of cultism and other criminal activities which may equally endanger their future.

The Commissioner who was represented by Manger Fergus, an Assistant Commissioner of Police urged students to focus on their studies to become future leaders, free from criminal affiliations and any other vices

‘I want to urge you, as you come to study, you’ll eschew all instances of being lured into cultism. One danger of becoming a member of a cult group is you hardly resigned from it because at a point when you want to denounce, that’s when the members who are still practicing will come after you. My advice is that eschew all instances of being members of any of the confraternity so that you will study and become great leaders in future’, he stated

Penpushing also reports that registrar of the joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), represented by the Coordinator Akeem Abdul Hameed, emphasized the importance of adherence to accreditation standards, stressing the need for the institution to fully comply with the board regulations.
