The Ogun State Government has rewarded grassroots athletes who won silver and bronze medals at the ongoing 7th National Youth Games, Asaba 2023 in Delta State Capital with instant cash rewards.

Penpushing reports that the Director of Sport, Mrs. Folakemi Rotimi, speaking at the medal presentation to one of the budding talents said that Governor Dapo Abiodun rewarded the Athletes who made the State proud in Asaba.

“It is no longer news that in Ogun State, we reward our athletes when they perform excellently, as the state government tries to dole out instant reward, for motivation and encouragement. You can see that during the last festival, our Governor gave cash rewards to these athletes and the officials that attended”, Rotimi, remarked.

The Director of Sports in the state stated that the instant reward is for better performance in future competitions, which would also encourage other athletes to put more effort into what they are already doing.

Penpushing further reports that para table tennis players, Raji Asisat and Tobiloba Ogunyemi, who won silver and bronze medals, and Mojeed Rilwan, who won Bronze in Judo, also received instant cash rewards at the event, and while responding on behalf of other winners, Rilwan appreciated the Governor, for his generosity towards the athletes and their welfare.
