The legal move of the trio of Atiku Abubakar of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Peter Obi of Labour Party (LP) and Chichi Ojei of All Peoples Movement (APM) to unseat Bola Tinubu as President, on Wednesday hit brickwall, as the Presidential Election Petition Court affirmed him (Tinubu) as the validly elected President of Nigeria.

Penpushing reports that, Head of the five-member panel of the court, Justice Haruna Tsammani, who delivered the lead judgement, made the pronouncement after dismissing the petition of Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The panel had earlier dismissed the petitions by Peter Obi, who was the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party (LP) and Chichi Ojei of the All Peoples Movement (APM), while the third case and last of the petition by Atiku was equally dismissed by the court in a judgement which lasted for over 12 hours

Penpushing further reports that, it is recalled that the three petitions alleged among others, non-qualification of Tinubu to run for the Presidency, irregularities and corrupt practices during the election, and failure of  Tinubu to meet full constitutional requirements to be declared the winner of the election due to his inability to secure 25 per cent of the votes in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory(FCT).

The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal, however, resolved all the issues formulated for determination of the cases against the petitioners and in favour of Tinubu and the other respondents, and ruled that that none of the allegations were proved with credible evidence.

Penpushing also reports that Tsammani held that the three petitions were not proved, while so far, two members of the panel Justices Stephen Adah and Misitura Bolaji-Yusuf, have adopted the reasoning and conclusions in the lead judgement.

The opinions of the duo, concurring with the lead judgement already constitute the court’s majority decision while the two remaining judges Justices Moses Ugo and Abbah Mohammed await their turns to deliver their own opinions.
