The second series of stakeholders’ dialogue on people-centred civil justice transformation in Ogun State has been flagged off on Thursday in Abeokuta, the state capital, anchored by The Hague Institute for Innovation of Law (Hiil) Holland, to improve access to civil justice and its delivery system in Nigeria and Ogun State in particular.

Penpushing reports that following the success of its maiden workshops between January to March 2021 where justice leaders drawn from civil service civil societies and traditional institution in Ogun State brain stormed on Civil Justice Transformation to evolve improved people-centred civil justice in the state, this year’s edition is focused on how to curb the prevalent Domestic Violence in the state and resolve the accompanied trauma of the victims.

The Nigeria Country Representative of Justice Innovation, Ijeoma Nwafor told invited participants at the scoping session held at the Park Inn Radisson Abeokuta that the task of Hiil was to deliver a vision on civil justice in Ogun State where people can safely live, work and do business.

Penpushing further reports that Nwafor explained that land, neighbor and family disputes had been identified as the most pressing civil justice needs that Ogun people face and that four civil justice transformation goals had been developed with accompanied indicators and targets to quantify what could realistically be achieved within a two to three-year time frame.

The group of about 30 stakeholders, at the interactive session classified as ‘justice changemakers’ drawn from the civil service, civil societies and the traditional institution, coaster-rolled a dispute resolution strategy to co-create an innovative and financially sustainable solution to improve the prevention and resolution of family justice problems, with a focus on domestic violence in Ogun State.

Meanwhile, the follow-up sessions when a comprehensive road map to solutions to the identified inhibitions to sustainable civil justice transformation in Ogun State be delivered has been scheduled for August, October and November in the year.
