The Oyo State Police Command has intercepted an unregistered Hyundai Sonora car, allegedly stolen at gun point in Ekiti State, with the arrest of the suspect, identified as Segun Folorunsho, alongside another occupant

Penpushing reports that the Command Public Relations Officer Adewale Osifeso made this known while parading the 53 year old suspect on Friday at the Command headquarters, Eleyele, Ibadan, said to be driving the ‘Ash Colour’ car from Ijero Ekiti, Ekiti State.

The police spokesman explained that  the suspect allegedly  dispossessed owner of the vehicle on 24th of August 2022 along Erio Ekiti to Aramoko Ekiti road, adding that as at the time of interrogation, confessed that the vehicle was to be delivered at Iyana-Ipaja Area Lagos State to one Sokunbi Oluwagbemiga.

“During the cause of searching, the original document of the said car with registration number (LAGOS) LND 705 GD, one Infinix Android Phone, one Iphone 8X Max and one big torch light belonging to the car owner were recovered from the suspect”,Osifeso said

Penpushing further reports that, the Public Relations Officer, however, said the case would be transferred to Ekiti State Police Command for further investigation, adding that in a similar development the command also arrested member of a criminal gang specialized in hijacking and diverting trailers and other articulated vehicles laden with goods.

The police image maker said the suspect was found in possession of one hundred and thirty bags of rice valued at about N4,680,000 only suspected to have been stolen, adding that preliminary investigations showed that the trailer and consignment were designated to a store in Akure

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the trailer and consignments were designated to a store at Akure, Ondo State from Kano State before the hijack. The suspect was arrested along Alakia area Ibadan and have confessed to the crime. He is presently assisting with the investigations in progress, updates would be provided accordingly.”

Penpushing also reports that, Osifeso added that the suspect masterminded the sales of part of the goods to criminal receivers at Okene in Kogi State,adding that other paraded include suspected armed robbers for hijacking motocycles, and suspected criminal syndicate who specialised in hijacking and diverting of trailer on high ways in the state
