The Egba Traditional Council has teamed up to organize a joint prayer for Egbaland and the country, with the theme, ’That, we all may be one, come let us build the walls of Egbaland together’, held at the Alake Palace ground in Abeokuta.

Penpushing reports that, the prayer session had in attendance three religions comprising Christians, Muslim and traditional worshippers, as well as all traditional rulers of the ancient town led by the convener of the programme Osile Oke-Ona Egba, Oba(Dr) Adedapo Tejuoso.

The event activities include inspirational music, prayer sessions, conducted by leadership of the three religions, speeches, goodwill messages, free medical services for the general public, donations and benedictions.

Penpushing further reports that, Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo in his opening speech, said it is a notable fact that, the three religions (Christian, Muslim and Traditionalist) worshiped same God, hence, need to converge for prayers

The monarch said the current security challenges in the country calls for God’s intervention, adding that the programme is to solidify the relationship between the religions, to sustain peace, love and unity, stressing that, the trio for the first time in the history of Egbaland, are jointly calling on God at same time for same purposes

‘We are not unaware that it is only God that protects. The current security challenges in our nation calls for God’s intervention. We are here today to ask for God’s protection over our country, Nigeria’, Alake emphasized

‘We are also mindful of the presence of all the recognized worshippers in Egbaland. Egbaland has been jealously guiding Christianity, Islam and Traditional beliefs. This programme is therefore to solidify the relationship between the trio to sustain peace, love and unity’, he added

Penpushing also reports that, Gbadebo explained that the programme organized by Egba Traditional Council, the apex council of Obas, was planned by the representatives of the three worshippers, which he noted was coming for the first time

The monarch who noted that security of lives and properties not the duties of the law enforcement agents alone, stressed need for all and sundry to be watchful, security conscious and always avail the security agents with all necessary information that will make the society a criminal free

‘We must take it as a duty to always educate, enlighten and sensitize our people, especially to be alive to the security duties. Our children needs to distance themselves from anything that will bring the names of their parents into a disrepute’, he stated

Penpushing reports that, the Alake of Egbaland, appreciated the convener of the the programme, Osile of oke-Ona Egba, Oba Adedapo Tejuoso, the planning committee for working round the clock to ensure success of the programme

The convener, Oba Tejuoso in his speech which focused more on appreciating God, pointed out that the day was unique and great, in view of the fact that, such joint repentance, praise and prayer was coming up for the first time in Egbaland

‘We thank God that we have not missed this golden opportunity to come before His throne of grace in penitence and as repentant sinners to make these various, great and true confessions of our sins, collectively, inherited or individually committed’, Tejuoso emphasized

Penpushing further reports that, Iyalode of Yorubaland, Iyalode Alaba Lawson in her remarks said the program was very important and timely, in view of the security challenges which pervaded the country, and needs prayer to solve.

‘This programme is unique and timely because we need prayer to resolve all problems , challenges and crisis happening in our nation. Egba people are praying and fasting to ensure that all the challenges facing the people of Egbaland, Ogun State and the nation at large can be solve’, Lawson stated
