The former Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun and his successor, Prince Dapo Abiodun have engaged in war of words over political differences, as the duo tongue-lashed themselves at a public function
Penpushing reports that, Amosun while speaking after receiving an award from the Abeokuta Club to commemorate the 5th anniversary of the club, stated that the 2019 governorship election in the state was rigged to favour Abiodun and called on his supporters to be on the lookout for the next line of action.
The Governor in a swift response declared that his predecessor is delusional and that he will not be distracted by any person who has a problem with himself, saying that Ogun State is not anybody’s fiefdom
Penpushing further reports that Amosun declared that he is not in support of the current administration in the state stating that all efforts must be made to vote the government out of power, insisting that his supported candidate of All Peoples Movement (APM), AbdulKabir Akinlade won the election but was rigged in favour of the occupant of the seat.
The former Governor and now a senator representing Ogun Central Senatorial District at the national assembly said some of those involved in the alleged rigging have disclosed their parts in the rigging and have apologized, adding that there was a gang up against his person, but he had since moved on.
Penpushing also reports that Amosun while responding to a comment that he did not spread his administration achievements across the state said his land mark projects are present in all the senatorial districts in the state.
.
The incumbent Governor in further response  during an interview with journalists shortly after the grand finale of the 5th anniversary of the Abeokuta Club, posited that he would not join issues with anyone that wants to play God, emphasizing that Ogun state belongs to all and not the inheritance of anyone’s father, promised to be more focused than before and will not be distracted by Amosun’s shenanigans.
“I will not be distracted by any person or person’s who have a problem with self delusion, I will not be distracted by any person who do not appreciate that Ogun State is not anybody’s father’s inheritance, we are all stakeholders in this Commonwealth called Ogun state”, Abiodun stated.
“I am not going to join issues with anyone that wants to play God, I will leave them to God, God can deal with whoever is challenging his authority and wants to play God. All I can say is that what we stand for in Ogun State is an administration that is committed to providing purposeful leadership and purposeful infrastructural development across the length and breadth of the state,” he said.
Penpushing reports that Abiodun  noted that his administration would continue to be against the campaign of discord  that will disrupt the peace and continuous development of the state, adding that his administration remain committed to the development of all sectors  of the state economy.
The Governor  expressed shock, that he still couldn’t believe that a former governor and an incumbent in 2019 would say he was rigged out  during the election, adding that his claim was ridiculous
“How can we that are on the outside take on an incumbent and then be accused of rigging out an incumbent in the same party?  Anyone can explain their failure whichever way they like, anyone can also begin to pant and threaten that they will do whatever. I am not perturbed”,Abiodun stressed.
