Eleven burnt to death in auto crash along Lagos-Ibadan expressway

Eleven persons have been burnt to death beyond recognition in an auto crash which occurred late Saturday night along Lagos-Ibadan expressway involving three vehicles.
Penpushing reports that, the Public Education Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps(FRSC), Ogun State Command, Florence Okpe who confirmed this on Sunday morning said eighteen person’s were involved, but seven of them were rescued
“The crash which occurred late last night involving 03 vehicles  that resulted in fire out break with no registration numbers but vehicles make were identified as 02 Mazda buses and a Car A total of 18 persons were involved but only 07 were rescued while 11 people unidentified  were burnt beyond recognition”,Okpe said
The agency spokesperson explained that a total of seven person’s comprising five male adult, one female adult and one mail child sustained vary degree of injuries, adding that as at the time of this report, they have been taken to Victory Hospital Ogere for medical treatment.
“A total of 07 persons ( 05 male adult 01 female adult and 01 male child)  sustained  different degree of  injuries.
The injured victims were taken to Victory Hospital Ogere for medical attention and one of the victims that was rejected was finally taken to Babcock University Teaching Hospital”, she explained.
Penpushing further reports that, Okpe said fire service, Sagamu was contacted while  traffic was diverted to Lagos-Ibadan expressway bound because the crash was obstructing the entire Ibadan – Lagos bound of the expressway and the crash scene was corned to avoid secondary crash.
The statement said the suspected causes of the multiple crash were excessive speed and dangerous driving, adding that the sector command, Ahmed Umar described the crash as an avoidable one if caution was put in place by obeying traffic rules and regulations with much concentration while driving.
Penpushing also reports that, the  Sector Commander who expressed deep pain  by the unfortunate incidents especially on Ogere axis of the expressway making the area  a crash prone zone, advised motorists to drive cautiously when approaching such zone, and he commiserated with the family of the crash victims and pray that God should give them the strength to bear their losses
