The Nigerian Government has disclosed that David Nwamini who is in the news of being taken to London by former Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu and wife Beatrice Ekweremadu  over alleged trafficking for organ harvesting is 21 year old contrary to claim  by the Metropolitan Police that he’s an underage.

Penpushing reports that, the Comptroller General of Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), Isah Idris made this clarification in a Zoom briefing with journalists, adding that, Nwamini applied for his international passport which was issued after thorough checks by the passport issuing agency.

The Comptroller General explained that the documents provided by Nwamini from the National Population Commission (NPC) and the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) gave his date of birth as October 12, 2000.

Penpushing further reports that, the immigration boss added that Nwanini was captured for the international passport on November 2, 2021, at the Gwagwalada office of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), in Abuja

The London Metropolitan Police it is recalled had on Thursday arrested and charged the couple (Ekeremadus) for allegedly trafficking  Nwanini ,said to be 15 years old with the aim of harvesting his kidney, while on same day, the Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court in London denied the couple bail.

Penpushing also reports that, the prosecutors reportedly told the London Court that the former Nigerian Deputy Senate President procured a passport for the boy and claimed he was 21 years old, and that they (prosecutors) discovered that he was 15 years old.

The  young man, it is recalled on arrival in United Kingdom was reported to have told the police  that he is an underage and not 21 years old as stated in his passport, and that he was not privy to arrangement of donating his kidney.

Penpushing reports that, the trial of the former Deputy Senate President and his wife continues on July 7 in the London court, just as some lawyers have also argued that it is illegal for anyone to be procured to donate an organ in the country, even if the person is an adult.
