A one-man burglary gang, identified as Steven has been arrested at Oloke area of Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital in the course of his operation to cart away properties from a bedroom flats on Monday morning
Penpushing reports that, the suspect at about 10.15 am scaled the fence of the building, and thereafter broke the door to gain access into the flat, when nemesis caught up with him, unknowing that there was a resident in the house.
The woman in the house, whose husband was not around when the suspect gained access into the compound raised alarm, which attracted the neighbourhood and raced to the building, while attempt by the suspect to jump out from the premises proved abortive.
Penpushing further reports that, the suspect who claimed to be an indigene of Imo State was subsequently arrested and during interrogation, he was incoherent in his explanation, admitting that he is a one-man gang burglar.
The suspect was, however, later handed over to the Divisional Police Headquarters in Ibara, Abeokuta, and on interrogation, it was discovered that, he was a resident of Abeokuta, contrary to his earlier claim that he resident in Sango town in Ado-Odo/Ota local government area of the state.
Penpushing also reports that, as at the time of filing this report, the light in complexion suspected burglar had continued to make confessional statement, while his family had equally being traced by the detectives
The suspect admitted that, he scaled the fence of the building in an attempt to cart away household items, as well as foodstuff and other valuables, when nemesis caught up with him, adding that he never knew there was a resident in the flat, as at the time he committed the crime
Penpushing reports that, sources at the Divisional Police Headquarters, where he was being detained as at the time of this report, has concluded arrangements to charge him to court on completion of the investigation.
