A 27-year-old man, Ibrahim Sikiru has allegedly killed his father, Mumuni Ibrahim, a security guard with a machete, at the Onipanu area of Ogun State, and has been arrested by the Onipanu Divisional Police Headquarters.
Penpushing reports that, the suspect, suspected to be a cultist was reported to have attacked his father in five different places, when questioned why he was still sleeping after coming home from work
The Ogun State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi who confirmed the incident said the suspected was arrested following a complaint lodged by a resident at the Onipanu Divisional Headquarters.
Penpushing further reports that, Oyeyemi said the victim was rushed to General Hospital, but died while receiving treatment and the family insisted on burying him according to Islamic rites, adding that the suspect on interrogation could not give meaningful explanation for his action
“Upon the report, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Onipanu Division, CSP Bamidele Job, quickly mobilized his men and moved to the scene where the suspect was arrested and the victim rushed to the General Hospital for treatment’, he said.
“The suspect, who is strongly suspected to be a cultist, has no reasonable explanation for his action when interrogated. On March 31, the victim died while receiving treatment at the general hospital, and the family insisted on burying him according to the dictate of his religion’, Oyeyemi added.
Penpushing also reports that, the Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and diligent prosecution.
