Barely 24 hours on arrival at Ukraine to embark on his education to study Sports Science at the Lviv Polytechnic National University in the European country, a 19-year old Nigerian, Fadlullah Agboluaje, has died.

Penpushing reports that, the deceased sister, Rofeeha Agboluaje, made this shocking development known on her instagram recalling that her brother left Nigeria on January 8, 2022, and was picked at the airport by the school’s representative on January 9.

“On getting to his designated room, he wasn’t happy with the way it looked and also complained that the heater wasn’t effective and my mum told him to request a change of room’, the bereaved sister said.

‘So he went to the front desk of the accommodation facility to report to the personnel on duty but, unfortunately, the person didn’t understand English so he ended up reaching out to the liaison officer, the undersigned agent on the letter the school sent before he left for Ukraine. This man asked my brother to see him in the morning the following day’.

Penpushing further reports that she said their mother who saw him off from their Ikeja home in Lagos to the airport chatted with him until 11 p.m. Nigeria time on Sunday (January 9),adding that on Monday, they couldn’t reach him anymore.

“My mum began to panic and began to reach out to different people for help in the afternoon time after we got no response from him all morning. She said eventually called the liaison officer but he began to dodge our calls, keeping us in the dark.”

Penpushing also reports that, the sister explained that said when the officer picked up their call, he handed over the phone to another student to inform the family that Agboluaje was found dead on the floor of his room.

The bereaved lamented that the news was shocking recalling that, her brother prior to leaving Nigeria did a complete health check including the coronavirus test and vaccination and was declared healthy.

Penpushing reports that, the sister said the liaison officer on January 11 sent her a blurry picture of her brother, which she said look like being taken in a rush, but affirmed that, the picture was that of her brother.

“It looked like it was taken in a rush, …I knew that it was my brother but it wasn’t clear and it was only one picture, they haven’t sent any other picture apart from that, there are a lot of things that we don’t have answers to,” she said.

Penpushing further reports that, she disclosed that, the family as at the time of filing this report is in contact with the embassy but decided to bring it to social media because there seems to be no headway.

“They are not doing an autopsy, they are not doing anything. The liaison officer is not taking responsibility, the last time my mom spoke with him, he said he is not responsible for this matter anymore, that is all left to the embassy,” she said.

The worried sister explained that her late brother was supposed to start the preparatory year to learn their language in Ukraine before his sudden death, and called for the intervention of a higher authority over the incident.”

Penpushing also reports that, as at the time of filing this report, the family has raised an online petition to demand the cause of the death, while record already has it that about 2,000 petitioners had signed it.

The Ukarine embassy as at the time of filing this report did not deny knowledge of the incident, but the embassy representative refused to identify himself, and said the authorities are on the case so
