God will adjudge you over your judgments on earth, Governor Abiodun tells legal practitioners

The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has called on Judges, Magistrate and Law Officers in the State to be cautious of the fact that, whatever they do on earth would be adjudge by God.

Penpushing reports that, Abiodun made this known to them while speaking at a Special Church Service, ushering in the 2021/2022 Legal Year at the Cathedral of St. Peter, Ake, Abeokuta, and enjoined them to be righteousness in dispensing of justice and perseverance in their dealings.

The Governor who was represented by Secretary to State Government,Tokunbo Talabi for on need for them to be closer to God by emulating the virtues of  tolerance, selflessness and brotherliness.

Penpushing further reports that, Abiodun noted that it was another opportunity for all Judges, Magistrates and Law officers of the State to be just and carry out their responsibility with fear of God, reflection of equity and justice.

The Governor told the legal practitioners that his administration had given priority to the judicial system in the State, with holistic approach in solving issues relating to the dispensation of justice, noting that approval had been given to the Judiciary to appoint more Judges and Magistrates.

Penpushing also reports that Chief Judge of the State, Justice Mosunmola Dipeolu in her remarks stated that the legal year was to commence another year of dispensation of justice in the country, affirming that the Judiciary is up to the task ahead.

The Chief Judge added that the third arm of government had recorded tremendous achievement within its domain, which include provision of a general and e-libraries with a set of computers and up-to-date search engine, standard archive, with book scanners and proper indexing of old record books from year 2010 to date.

Penpushing reports that, Dipeolu pointed out that Small Claims Courts were commissioned in Abeokuta, Ijebu-Ode, Sagamu, Ota and Ifo, while High courts were also established in Idi-Oke, Igbesaland.

The Diocesan Bishop of Ijebu, Rt. Rev. Dr. Peter Oludipe in his sermon said equity is the solution in addressing imbalanced social system and misadministration in the country.

Penpushing further reports that, the cleric noted that justice could take equity one step further, by fixing the system in a way that would lead to long-term, sustainable and equitable access for generation to come.

The clergyman admonished the Judges and Magistrates to be righteous and fair, adding that everyone would account for his or her stewardship, noting that it is when the nation get it right in the dispensation of justice, the country can take its pride of place in the comity of nations

Penpushing also reports that, Oludipe emphasised that judiciary has a role to play in salvaging Nigeria from the ills that have besieged the country, and therefore must live up to its mandate of upholding justice at all times

The dignitaries at the occasion include, Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, Alaperu of Iperu Remo, Oba Adeleke Idowu, Alaye of Ode-Remo, Oba Sanni Osho, the State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Gbolahan Adeniran, some members of the State Executive Council and the House of Assembly.
