Nigerian Defence Academy swallow bitter pill, as unknown gunmen kill two personnel, abduct another at Nigerian Defence Academy

The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), situated in Kaduna, northern part of the country on Tuesday had bitter taste of bandits, who stormed the facility, killing two officers and abducting another senior officer.

Penpushing reports that, a source said aside from the officers killed and kidnapped, some others sustained gunshot injuries and are currently receiving treatment at the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) hospital.

The source added that, the bandits came in large numbers to carry out the operations, in the early hours which caught the authorities and personnel of the cNigerian Defence Academy(NDA) unaware

Penpushing further reports that, there were intelligence reports which recently said that Boko Haram flags were sighted at the Afaka Forest close to Nigerian Defence Academy(NDA) and Kaduna Airport.

The Nigerian Defence Academy(NDA) Afaka campus was officially opened in February 2007, while the old site in Angwan Kanawa in Kaduna town is now for Postgraduate and short service cadets.

Penpushing also reports that, reacting to the sad development, the authorities of Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) said it has commenced pursuit of the unknown gunmen who invaded the academy, killing two personnel and abducted another officer.

The Academy Public Relations Officer, Major Bashir Muhd Jajira made this known in a statement on Tuesday, adding that the pursuit of the suspects was in collaboration with other security agencies in Kaduna State.

Penpushing reports that, the academy spokesman who confirmed the attack, explained that, the pursue within the general area became necessary with a view to tracking the suspects and rescue the abducted personnel

‘The security architecture of  the Nigerian Defence Academy  was compromised  early this morning by unknown gunmen who gained access into  the residential area within the Academy in Afaka. During the unfortunate incident, we lost two personnel and one was abducted’,the statement said.

‘The Academy in collaboration with the 1Division Nigerian Army and Air Training Command as well as other security agencies in Kaduna state has since commenced pursuit of the unknown gunmen within the general area with a view to tracking them and rescue the abducted personnel’,Jajira said.

The statement added that, the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) community and Cadets are safe in the Academy, with assurance that the general public that this unknown gunmen would soon be apprehended and the abducted personnel rescued.
