Eld-el-Kabir: Federal Road Safety Corps deploy1, 380 personnel to monitor motorists in Ogun state

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Ogun State Command has commenced special patrol operations for the Eld-el-Kabir , aimed to focus on excessive speed; dangerous driving; wrongful overtaking and lane indiscipline among others

Penpushing reports that, Route Commander, Florence Okpe made this know in a statement, adding that, a total of 1,380  personnel comprising Regular and Special Marshals have been mobilised and deployed to oversee traffic activities on highways across Ogun State.

The command focus will also be on  use of phone while driving; seat belt violation ; overloading violation, tyre violation (expired/ substandard) as well as speed limiting device violation , passengers manifest violation by commercial vehicles and use of drugs and  intoxicating alcoholic beverages while driving and also ensure strict adherence to coronavirus   protocols and guidelines. .

‘A total of 1,380)  personnel comprising Regular and Special Marshals have been mobilised and deployed to oversee traffic activities on highways across Ogun state especially  the  Lagos –  Ibadan; Sagamu –  Ijebu Ode ; Sagamu – Mosinmi –  Ikorodu; Abeokuta – Sagamu ; Abeokuta – Ibadan; Abeokuta – Ifo – Sango – Ota – Lagos Corridors , as well as the  Ota – Idiroko international  corridor’, the statement said.

Penpushing further reports that, the command added that operational equipments have been provided to ensure desired impact on the entire stretch of highways across the state which include :33 patrol vehicles , 7 advanced life support ambulances, 10  patrol motor bikes, 5 heavy duty tow / recovery truck, brethlisers for testing drivers for  drugs and alcoholic consumption, extricating machines for rescuing trapped crash victims

‘Traffic control areas to be manned by FRSC personnel , assisted by sister security and emergency agencies have been set up to ensure easy intervention to traffic distress from the boundaries of Ogun State with neighbouring states of Lagos, Oyo and Ondo States’, Okpe stated..

The Public Education Officer disclosed that, in same vein   all the  command  ambulances points in Ogun state located at Itori; Sagamu; Ijebu Ode and Ogunmakin, in addition to  the night rescue teams at various  formations would operate 24 hours rescue operations throughout the duration of the special patrol operations.

Penpushing also reports that, Okpe in the statement said the Federal Road Safety Corps(FRSC) Ogun State Command has also embarked on aggressive motor parks public enlightenment campaigns across the state.

‘Motorists traveling during this period to celebrate with their loved ones are advised to be extra careful and ensure their journeys are properly planned, with their vehicles routinely serviced , while paying special attention to  construction areas where overtaking is prohibited and maximum speed is perked at 50km per hour, especially at construction zones where traffic is diverted’, she emphasised.

‘The FRSC Ogun State Sector Commander, Corps Commander Ahmed Umar,  has appealed to motorists to demonstrate the reason of this season by showing love to fellow road users by  sharing the road responsibly  and obeying traffic rules to arrive home safely to celebrate with their loved ones’,the statement added.

‘The Sector Commander therefore warned that any motorist apprehended flouting traffic rules during the  special patrol operations may   be treated as driving dangerously and could be prosecuted’.

Penpushing reports that, the Command pointed out that, as customary it would provide timely traffic situation on corridors across Ogun State, to guide motorists in having seamless travel experience, adding that this would be through the social media and in conjunction with the print and electronic media

‘This traffic broadcast would also be available through the National Traffic Radio 107.1 FM Abuja , which can be streamed online In case of a road traffic  crash and obstruction, the FRSC could be reached on the  FRSC toll free number 122.  Details of the Special Patrol Operations is available on www.frsc.gov.ng  and www.facebook.com/frsc nigeria’ Okpe said
